Public liability is the term used to describe a claim where you have
suffered an injury as a result of a third party.
For instance, you may trip and injure yourself on a broken pavement and
be able to claim compensation from the third party, in this case the local
council.
You may suffer an accident while on third party premises like a shop or
a business, in which case you may be able to claim compensation from the
shop or business owner, if the fault was not yours.
Accidents or injuries suffered in rented properties, schools and other
public buildings also fall into this category.
